A man thought his dog was gone forever after he disappeared during the deadly wildfires that broke out in Viña del Mar, Chile, in early February. But fate stepped in and brought them back together. The two shared a heartwarming reunion this week.
The man, Juan, left his dog, Lucky, at home on Friday, Feb. 2 when he headed to work, just as he always did. Not long after, the flames sparked and quickly spread through the area, thanks to dry weather and strong winds. By the following Monday, the fires had been mostly extinguished, but around 3,000 homes were destroyed, including Juan’s.
Juan handed out posters of his lost friend, hoping he somehow survived the blaze. Fortunately, Lucky lived up to his name and had escaped his house before fleeing the area, and an animal shelter volunteer spotted him wandering about the streets.
Dog Can’t Hide His Excitement When He Reunites With His Owner
Thanks to the poster, the volunteers knew exactly where Lucky belonged. A video captures the moment the dog reunites with his owner, and it has social media users in tears.

“Those tail wags say it all,” a dog lover wrote on Instagram before adding a crying emoji. “*Sigh* enters comments after crying hysterically,” shared another. “I’m hugging my dog tight right now,” admitted a commenter.
In the video, Juan cries and smothers Lucky in kisses. Though friends gather around, Lucky can only focus on Juan. He kisses his owner back and wags his tail so hard that his entire body wiggles.
