A plasterer is walking to Ibiza because he ‘can’t afford a flight’ – trudging a marathon a day for two months so he can party with Wayne Lineker at his beach club.
Henry Moores, 21, from Macclesfield, Cheshire, is desperate to visit the party island this summer and has planned an epic 1,200-mile hike through France and mainland Spain to get there. The avid walker, who raised £20,000 for charity by walking 500 miles to Paris in October and November, hopes to raise even more on this adventure.
Harry messaged O Beach Ibiza owner Wayne Lineker on Instagram pledging that if he replied, he would then lace up his boots and he’d set off – and to his surprise the club tycoon responded.
Lineker posted a video of the pair at his London pad on Sunday where he pledged his support for ‘crazy’ Henry and promised to meet him in Ibiza to end the walk at his club.
In the clip Henry explained he’s taking on the challenge, which will begin on March 2nd, because ‘he’s never been to Ibiza and can’t afford a flight’. Despite planning to walk the distance of 60 marathons in 60 days Henry insists he’ll ‘definitely have enough energy’ to party when he reaches the finish line on May 2.
Henry plans to the stay in a mixture of hostels, B&Bs and campervans during his journey and he’s currently looking for a sponsor to cover the costs. He revealed some family and friends have already booked tickets to meet him there so he’s feeling the pressure to complete the mammoth task.
Henry welcomed the fact that he won’t have to pay for flights, baggage and hopefully accommodation for the trip. He said: ‘The flights, the baggage, the accommodation, the party – a lot of that should funnel through the trip instead of me having to go and pay for it.
‘I thought I could walk to Ibiza and get a holiday out of it while raising money for charity and meeting Wayne Lineker. ‘I got in touch with Wayne and I went to his apartment which was unbelievable. He got me into this position.
