Taylor Swift arrived in Sydney with surprises in store! On night one of the tour in New South Wales, the “Cruel Summer” singer delivered her usually enchanting setlist and brought out her opening act, Sabrina Carpenter for a duet during the acoustic portion of the concert.
Swift also treated her Aussie crowd of 81,000 fans to a big reveal, announcing a new alternate cover of her upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, and an accompanying bonus track titled “The Albatross.”
Backstage, the 14-time Grammy winner posed for photos with old friends Katy Perry and Rita Ora, who watched the show from the VIP tent alongside Super Bowl champion and Swift’s all-star boyfriend Travis Kelce. Poet at Work
During her acoustic set of the evening, the “All Too Well” singer dropped more news about her highly anticipated 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. Swift revealed another edition of the record, with new cover art and another bonus track title.
More Music Ahead
“This edition is called ‘The Albatross’ because there is an exclusive bonus song on this vinyl called ‘The Albatross,’ and I can’t wait for you to hear it,” Swift shared over the roaring audience, per a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Through the Eras
Swift announced her new album at the 2024 Grammy Awards in February, where she picked up two golden gramophones, including a historic win in the album of the year category.
During her acceptance speech for best pop vocal album, the “Anti-Hero” songstress revealed the title of her latest project, which she described as “a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years.”
Blondes Have More Fun
After teasing “The Albatross,” Swift sang a duet with her opener, Sabrina Carpenter, who wasn’t able to perform due to pre-show rain and a nearby lightning strike.
“My incredibly talented, wonderful, gorgeous, hilarious, genius opening act Sabrina Carpenter, she heroically sacrificed her show, which I think is a crime against Sydney,” Swift said moments before Carpenter joined her at the piano. “And I think it needs to be fixed, so I’m going to bring her out now, is that OK, Sydney?”
