George, Charlotte and Louis are ‘showing incredible resilience’ amid mum Kate’s cancer battle

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are the ‘centre of William and Kate’s world’ and are showing ‘extraordinary resilience’ in the face of the Princess of Wales’ cancer battle, an insider has claimed.

Earlier this month, the royal mother-of-three, 42, announced in an emotional video message that she is undergoing ‘preventative’ chemotherapy after cancer was discovered following her major abdominal surgery in January.

In the video, the Princess explained how ‘it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them’ and to ‘reassure them that I am going to be okay’.

Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, an insider revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales’ children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, have been a source of support during Kate’s treatment. Describing how they ‘buoy [Kate and William] with smiles’, the insider said: ‘The children are at the centre of their world.’

They added: ‘You take heart from the extraordinary resilience of children.’ The insider also claimed Kate and William are also prioritising family time as ‘having fun together when they can is very important’. It is believed that the Princess of Wales announced her cancer diagnosis on 22 March as this was the day George, Charlotte and Louis broke up from Lambrook School in Bracknell for their Easter break.

The announcement may have been timed so that her children would not immediately face questions in the playground after the news was made public. The family are reported to have spent the Easter holidays together as they adjust to Kate’s diagnosis, which was discovered in post-operative tests following her major abdominal surgery.

According to the Mirror, an aide said: ‘The family just want to go away for Easter, spend time together, the five of them, close off from the world and move on.’ They usually spend the children’s holidays at spacious Anmer Hall in Norfolk – their country home – and are known for revelling in ‘outdoorsy’ activities such as cycling and walking.

In the emotional message, which was filmed in Windsor, Kate revealed the news had come as a ‘huge shock’ and that she and William ‘have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family’.
