In an upcoming Netflix movie, Zac Efron might come between a mother and daughter’s relationship.
On Wednesday, the trailer for the film A Family Affair was uploaded online. The romantic comedy film stars Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman, and Joey King.
Zac plays Chris Cole, a self-absorbed Hollywood star who starts dating Brooke Harwood (Nicole), the mother of his assistant, Zara Ford (Joey). The trailer shows the steamy romance growing between the couple as Zara grapples with her mother dating her boss.
The trailer also shows that Kathy Bates will play Brooke’s mother in the film, and lists Liza Koshy and Shirley MacLaine as having roles in the film. In the trailer, one scene shows Brooke telling her daughter: “I am starting to feel things that I never thought I would feel again, not since your father died.”
“No! You did not just say that!” Zara yelled back.
Social media users were keen to notice a similar plot line in this flick to another streaming service film. Earlier this month, Amazon Prime released The Idea of You starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine.
The film follows Anne, who plays Solene, as she starts a relationship with Hayes (Nicholas), a member of her daughter’s favorite boyband.
“Wasn’t Anne hathaway just in this movie,” One person wrote on Twitter, now known as X. Another chimed in: “Netflix’s answer to The Idea of You.”
Others were just excited for the new flick. “I’m gonna love this!!!!!” a third wrote with laughing face emojis. Another said: “This looks corny but entertaining.”
Two of the three stars aren’t strangers to Netflix. Zac previously starred in the Netflix film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile as serial killer Ted Bundy.
Joey is known for playing the female lead in the romantic comedy series The Kissing Booth. This is Nicole Kidman’s first Netflix film.
